Trauma Counseling
Feeling frazzled all the time, you can’t seem to settle or feel normal. You tend to be level-headed and reliable in the midst of a crisis, but in everyday life you’re feeling increasingly stressed and overwhelmed.
Perhaps, you’ve been triggered in later life and have only discovered that you had childhood trauma by accident. Now, you’re having waves of memories, nausea, overwhelm, nightmares and anxiety. You just don’t understand how you can be a shell of the person you once were. Sometimes anger and hopelessness come out of nowhere.
Loved ones are worried about you, and you’re honestly worried about yourself.
The effects of trauma can show up right after a traumatic event, years later when you experience a trigger, or even when you’re feeling especially safe in your life. The good news is that you can absolutely recover from the effects of trauma.
I use evidence-based practices such as EMDR and IFS to help you move through the trauma. We’ll work first to help you feel stabilized, give you confidence in being able to move through troublesome feelings, and then we’ll tackle the beliefs about yourself and the world that may have resulted from your troubling experiences. EMDR is transformational in trauma work and we’ll use it liberally if it resonates for you.
I too had a tremendous amount of trauma to work through and it was through EMDR and a loving therapist that I finally got through it. I’m certain you can, too. Get in touch and let’s talk about how I can best help you.
